hale (2)I work as an Associate Professor of Linguistics at the Department of Foreign Language EducationMiddle East Technical University, Ankara where I mainly teach courses on Pragmatics, Discourse/Conversation Analysis, Corpus Linguistics and the analysis of Spoken Interaction at the graduate level, and Linguistics and Research methods courses as well as practicum at the undergraduate level.

I hold a PhD in Foreign Language Education and have worked more specifically within the fields of Pragmatics, Discourse Analysis and Corpus Linguistics. My academic interests mainly lie within the domains of cross-cultural (im)politeness research, spoken corpora, conversation analysis, discourse and gender, intercultural communication, applied linguistics,  and the teaching of English and Turkish as a foreign language, and English taught programs and internationalization.
