I work as an Associate Professor of Linguistics at the Department of Foreign Language Education, Middle East Technical University, Ankara where I mainly teach courses on Pragmatics, Discourse Analysis and Corpus Linguistics at the graduate level; and Linguistics, Bi/Multilingualism and Research methods, corpus literacy courses at the undergraduate level.
Over the years I have mainly worked within the domains of corpus-assisted (critical) discourse analysis, online discourses and social media discourse analysis, classroom interaction, cross-cultural (im)politeness research, spoken corpora compilation, conversation analysis, discourse and gender, intercultural communication, applied linguistics and English taught programs & internationalization.
I am currently research lead of the METU DIscourse and COrpus REsearch Group (DISCORE) and METU-EMI Research Network. I also am founding partner of FabuLAB Education and Information Technologies Inc. which is an R&D company specialising in language solutions, founded by METU faculty members, operating from METU Technopolis.
