Gender and Sexuality in Middle Eastern Uprisings

Seeking paper proposals for a panel at the Cultural Studies Association Conference to be held March 28-April 1 at the University of California in San Diego. This panel will consider the role of gender and sexuality in recent uprisings in the Middle East – from the Arab Spring to Iran’s Green Movement. Papers engaged with queer theory and/or spatial theory are encouraged, though we welcome all relevant papers and will formulate our panel direction once we finalize all panelists.
