Two Concepts

06/04/2020

My two concepts differentiate due to system usage.

In Concept 1:

  • Units are seperate
  • Has their own water source
  • Electricity transmitted via connection between modules
  • Modules are heavier so user should take out plant seperately
  • More free to alternate forms
  • Different nutritions for different plants
  • Dimensions of my modules 45 cm height, 45 cm width, 30 cm depth According to needed area for water resource, inner systems and area for plants to grow.
  • So I put 4-6 modules in 2 levels, which mean they need flat bottom and top. I can play with it (maybe) via transparency effect.

In Concept 2:

  • Units connect  via main connection system
  • They connect electricity via main system
  • Maybe they will connect tap water
  • And (?) while water passing, it get nourish from a filter.
  • Modules will be smaller and lighter
  • Main system will be stable so user arrange at the beginning
  • And also I forgat to model yet I thought maybe I can use tangram as a main system and they can change units on it maybe.

Commen Points:

  • They both use usage scenario that I mention, difference is in concept 1 user get drawer or tray, in concept 2 user get module to countertop.
  • They both use surface displays and off product controls
  • System will be same and in both humadity, tempature, nutrition, lightning will be controlled.
  • For mushrooms transparent parts can get darkening.
  • And also via lightning cycles I will aim control growth cycle too.

I really found hard to create a form for Concept 2, and there is some form trials. You can also found form trials inFog Ponic Form Trials post second link.

    Esmanur Hello,

I can simply see that you are working very hard. You have so much information to deal with. You must simplify your purpose and define the main interaction you expect from the user, and that will define all the parameters. Right know all ideas are spread around, although I am very familiar with the technology I had hard time to follow your ideas. Addition to Sıla ‘s questions, is light included, what kind of light, if fast growing is the issue, colored light may be the case and is it exposed ? ( and it may disturb the eye in the long run ), water, nutrition & electricity flow between containers is the main issue here , how they pass through from one to another, how do containers get attached, where is the water tank, how do you load it, how often do you load it , how often we collect plants, how fast they grow, flexibility in height !!! Answers to all these will define your shape. Even though I appreciate your endless search for pattern and shape, I think it is about time to decide your own shape which answers all these questions above. As I always say, you do not squeeze your ideas into one beautiful shape, your ideas and decisions will define the shape itself. But your work is very thorough, very well searched, I can not wait to see them all gathered. Good job so far, keep on going.

    Esmanur Hi!
I really appreciate the way you work. You made an extensive research for the creating how the system works and what is needed for the whole scenario for your product, well-done! I like the idea of modularity and your explorations on distinct form alternatives. You have picked the appropriate inspirational material and made used of it properly in my opinion. To make use of your energy in a more productive way, you may not need to make further detailing of your each suggesstions. For the detailing, my suggestion is that pick up a simple geometry and implement necessary details on it by keeping in mind of the questions Ece Hoca asked previously. Then you will discover some unforseenable difficulties to be solved. Right after solving these difficulties, you can implement your practical solutions on this basic geometry for your other distinct alternatives in shape and geometry.
So far, you did very well-done. Combining your modules in one total system is critical for you. Try to figure how you solve it out and try to elaborate your concept with further details.
You are progressing very good, keep up with it keep up the hard work (I believe you will anyway 😉 Good luck..

Thank you so much for your precious comment ? Its really valuable that hear all those kind words from you.
I was feeling kinda lost about form. I will keep in my your comments and do my best about them.
