PhD Studentships

Applications are invited for two PhD studentships on spatial audio object coding on a project funded by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK). The focus of research is on microphone array signal processing for source localisation and separation, spatial audio content authoring, real-time simulation of room acoustics and subjective evaluation of spatial audio quality. METU is the top research university in Turkey and also one of the top 60 universities by reputation as reported in Times Higher Education 2013-14 World University Rankings. The medium of education is English. The project will be carried out in the Informatics institute of Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara, Turkey. The institute has state-of-the art research facilities for audio and acoustical signal processing. The research project is funded by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK). The funding covers a tax-free stipend of TRY 21,000 per annum and will be for three years. Candidates are expected to have a B.Sc. and/or M.Sc. degree in electrical and electronic engineering, computer science, or related discipline, must be knowledgeable in digital signal processing and have strong programming skills. All nationalities are eligible to apply. The studentship offer will be conditional on the acceptance of the candidate to the Information Systems PhD program in METU Informatics Institute. The studentships will start in September 2014.
