History

The ATLAS Laboratory was established in 2012 by three faculty members, Uluç Saranlı, Yiğit Yazıcıoğlu and Afşar Saranlı from the Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical and Electronics Engineering departments of the Middle East Technical University, respectively. Collaborative activities of these researcher and their individual research groups date back to 2006, starting with the joint TUBITAK Project 106E089, titled “State estimation and dynamic feedback behaviors for a legged robot for outdoor applications”. Collaboration between these groups continued with other research projects and the subsequent establishment of the ATLAS laboratory.
