What we do

Presentations and/or workshops: The writing center gives two kinds of workshops/ presentations:

  1. A series of presentations and/or workshops with a focus on general academic writing needs throughout the academic year including but not limited to finding and evaluating research sources and using them ethically, strategic reading, strategies for generating and organizing ideas;
  2. Presentations and/or workshops on demand: Faculty members and/or students can make a request for a presentation and/or workshop specific to their academic writing needs.

Focus group support on students’ writing : Upon the course instructor’s request and/or approval, a group of students can come together to seek help on a specific writing assignment – the support given may include but not limited to guidance on the task requirements,  planning the writing process and/or discussions on the content, organization, unity, and clarity of the students’ draft papers.

One-to-one support on students’ writing: Students can make an individual appointment to get  one-to-one support on a specific writing assignment –the support given may include but not limited to guidance on the task requirements,  planning the writing process and/or discussions on the content, organization, unity, and clarity of the students’ draft papers. One to one tutorials will only be given upon the course instructor’s approval, ideally, within the boundaries of specific objectives determined by the course instructor and the writing center tutor together.
