Culture and Psychology

About culturally shaped shapers – Humans

Welcome! My name is Aray, I am a 4th year student in the department of Psychology.

In this blog I share my reflections about topics in Culture and Psychology. I connect culture to perception, cognition, development, social class, interpersonal relationships and many more.

Why this course?

With years of growing up in a multicultural country, and later studying in Turkey and Austria with my international friends, I realized I was shaped by many cultures and languages. I wanted to understand how exactly I was affected by this exposure.

Culture confines?

I wanted to learn if cultural norms restrict our personal freedom

Which culture?

I wanted to discover if I had to choose one culture or could integrate all of them

Flexibility is power

I wanted to acquire tools to be flexible and adaptable to different cultures

Turkish culture

Since most of the student are Turkish, I thought it would be interesting to hear what they think about their culture VS. how I see them in their culture

Discussions are fun

I have been recommended this course for its discussion-based format
