My First Paper at 13: Before I Knew What “Academia” Was ✍️🧪
The year was 2013. I was 13 years old, not even in high school yet. During a chemistry class in BILSEM my teacher introduced me to periodic table. I threw out an idea, and that single spark turned into a full-blown article.
Even if it didn’t provide a groundbreaking scientific contribution to the literature, it was my very first step into academia. For my teachers, it was a case study on the comprehension capacity of a gifted young student; for me, it was pure curiosity.
I started this journey without knowing anything about “literature review,” “novelty,” or “article structure”—I just did it because I wanted to. Who could have known that this adventure would lead me to where I am today: a scientific researcher pursuing my Master’s degree at METU?
Looking back, I have just one wish: If only writing were still as easy as it was back then! I truly miss the days when I could write without having to read 10 papers just to compose a single paragraph.
For those who want to witness the beginning of this fun adventure and the “innocent peak” of my academic career, I am sharing the link to the article below.
