AI Engineering is a technical discipline that focuses on designing, implementing and deploying AI systems in accordance with technical and ethical standards. It has a diverse background due to a combination of principles from software engineering, data science and machine learning.

Since AI Engineering is an emerging field, organizations developing AI systems are likely to encounter unprecedented problems, including new types of technical debt (TD). Our research in AI Engineering focuses on developing a framework for managing TD in AI-enabled systems by analyzing TD categories and creating a tool for practitioners to effectively detect and manage TD in AI systems.
