{"id":52,"date":"2025-03-16T19:52:44","date_gmt":"2025-03-16T19:52:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.metu.edu.tr\/mtemiz\/?p=52"},"modified":"2025-03-16T19:55:05","modified_gmt":"2025-03-16T19:55:05","slug":"research-scholarships-for-metu-msc-and-phd-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.metu.edu.tr\/mtemiz\/research-scholarships-for-metu-msc-and-phd-students\/","title":{"rendered":"Research Scholarships for METU MSc and PhD Students"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a01 MSc (12 Months) and 1 PhD (12 Months) scholarships are available for METU graduate students to work on an exciting research project at the intersection of <strong>Deep Learning, Waveform Design, and Integrated Sensing and Communications <\/strong>\u2014 key enablers for <strong>6G and beyond wireless communication networks<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The project will focus on developing novel techniques that leverage <strong>deep learning for wireless communication and sensing systems<\/strong>, optimise the coexistence of <strong>communication and sensing functionalities<\/strong>, and enhance overall <strong>spectral and energy efficiency<\/strong> in future wireless systems.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Application Deadline:<\/strong> 30<sup>th<\/sup> of March \u2013 Candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Start Date:<\/strong> As soon as possible &#8211; Applications will be reviewed <strong>on a rolling basis<\/strong> until all positions are filled.<\/p>\n<p>This project is supported by METU BAP (Scientific Research Projects Coordination Unit). Current scholarship rates are 6000 TL\/Month for MSc students and 9000 TL\/Month for PhD Students.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong><u>Key Research Areas<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Deep learning for waveform design and optimization<\/li>\n<li>Deep learning for signal processing<\/li>\n<li>Joint radar sensing and communication systems<\/li>\n<li>Modelling and simulation of wireless systems<\/li>\n<li>Deriving analytical expressions for communication capacity and sensing lower bounds<\/li>\n<li>Mathematical optimization and developing closed-form solutions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong><u>Who Should Apply?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">We are looking for talented and motivated researchers with a passion for <strong>applied mathematics,<\/strong> <strong>next-generation wireless communications, machine learning, and signal processing<\/strong>. Candidates with <strong>experience<\/strong> or <strong>strong interest<\/strong> in at least one of the following areas are encouraged to apply:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wireless communication and sensing systems (OFDM, FMCW, massive MIMO, ISAC, communication\/computer networks.)<\/li>\n<li>Machine learning techniques (deep learning, reinforcement learning, federated learning, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency in MATLAB and\/or Python (Simulation and modeling experience is desirable).<\/li>\n<li>Strong mathematical background (linear algebra, optimization, probability, matrix theory).<\/li>\n<li>Experience with mathematical optimization, cybersecurity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong><u>Eligibility Criteria<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>MSc applicants<\/strong>: METU MSc with thesis students in the following fields: Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Education, Information Technologies, Scientific Computing or related fields.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>PhD applicants<\/strong>: METU PhD students in the following fields: Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Education, Information Technologies, Scientific Computing or related fields.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>What You Will Do<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop machine learning-based algorithms for wireless communication systems.<\/li>\n<li>Derive mathematical expressions for optimisation and performance analysis.<\/li>\n<li>Develop wireless communication and sensing system models and simulations.<\/li>\n<li>Write research articles for high-impact journals and leading international conferences.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with researchers from top international universities and industry partners.<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to writing research projects and collaborate with other researchers and students.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong><u>How to Apply<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Interested candidates should send the following documents to Assist.
