Dear prospective graduate (MS and Ph.D.) students,<\/span><\/p>\n

I am an assistant professor in the Electrical & Electronics Engineering Department and one of the core faculty members of the newly opened Robotics Graduate Program<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Interested applicants who want to pursue an MS or Ph.D. degree with me can apply to the Electrical & Electronics Engineering Department<\/a> (Control or Robotics options) or the Interdisciplinary Robotics Graduate Program<\/a>. In addition to the individual requirements of each program, I also have some additional personal acceptance and graduation requirements.<\/span><\/p>\n

The prospective students who believe that she\/he can satisfy these requirements can send me an e-mail about the application processes and possible opportunities under my supervision.<\/span><\/p>\n

Acceptance Requirement:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

I no longer accept an applicant who is a “full-time” employee in a company. I want a nearly full-time commitment to graduate research and will consider an applicant if he\/she can spend\u00a0<\/span>at least<\/span><\/strong>\u00a02.5 weekdays a week (within working hours) for her\/his graduate studies inside the METU campus.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If you are working in a company and they allow such a commitment (possibly via a protocol with the student that guarantees this permission until graduation), you can contact me about possible opportunities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Graduation Requirement:\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Prospective and current graduate students, please carefully read my publication requirements for successful degree completion.<\/span><\/p>\n

Publication requirements for the MSc & Ph.D. degrees:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

In addition to the degree requirements imposed by the department, institute, and university, the students under my supervision must also satisfy the following publication requirements.<\/p>\n

MSc students should have at least one journal article satisfying the following:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. \n
    The student should be the first author.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  2. \n
    The article should have METU in the affiliation and I need to be a co-author in the publication<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  3. \n
    The journal has to be indexed in the Web of Science database at the time of publication<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  4. The WOS quartile ranking of the journal needs to be at least Q2<\/li>\n
  5. \n
    The article should have been either accepted or received \u201cminor revision\u201d (this should be clearly demonstrated by a letter from the editor).<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Ph.D. students should have at least two journal articles satisfying the following:<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. \n
      The student should be the first author in both articles.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
    2. \n
      The article should have METU in the affiliation and I need to be a co-author in the publication<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
    3. \n
      The journal has to be indexed in the Web of Science database at the time of publication<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
    4. The WOS quartile ranking of one of the journals needs to be at least Q1<\/li>\n
    5. \n
      The WOS quartile ranking of both journals needs to be at least Q2<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
    6. One of the articles has to be published” before the date of thesis defense<\/li>\n
    7. \n
      If not yet published, the second article should have been either accepted or received “minor revision” (this should be demonstrated by a letter from the editor).<\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      I have the right to ease\/change\/harden these requirements for specific cases. However, you are supposed to be prepared based on the listed requirements before your thesis defense.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
