Abdullah Ekinci graduated at the top of his class from The American College of Cyprus. In 2004, he began his journey in Civil Engineering at Coventry University, UK, where he earned a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree. Following his studies, Ekinci joined Shires Consulting in Birmingham, UK, as a Geotechnical Engineer in 2008. There, he adeptly handled a variety of geotechnical design challenges and oversaw subsequent fieldwork. In 2009, his academic path led him to University College London as a Ph.D. candidate. His research, funded by an EPSRC project in collaboration with the Highways Agency and Mouchel Consulting, delved into Critical State Soil Mechanics (CSSM), ground improvement, and monitoring.

Throughout his Ph.D. studies and beyond, Ekinci has focused his research on CSSM, ground improvement, and monitoring, significantly contributing to the field. He has provided consultancy for several high-profile geotechnical projects, including the New Ercan International Airport and the European Commission-funded Güngör sanitary landfill. With over 50 publications in international journals and conferences, Ekinci has established himself as a respected figure in geotechnical engineering. He is an active member of the Laboratory Testing (TC101) and Ground Improvement (TC211) Technical Committees of the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE).

Currently, Ekinci is a faculty member and the Secretary-General at the Middle East Technical University Northern Cyprus Campus (METU NCC). He also serves as the President of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Civil Engineers (IMO), continuing to influence the field of civil engineering through both academic and professional avenues.
