About Me

Hi everyone,

I’m Fahri Baran Köroğlu. I received my B.Sc. (2020) and M.Sc. (2023) in Civil Engineering from the İzmir Institute of Technology. I am pursuing my Ph.D. at Middle East Technical University under the supervision of Prof. Murat Altuğ Erberik, and I have been a Graduate Research Assistant at Harran University since 2022. In 2023, I spent a semester at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln as a Teaching Assistant.

My research aims to bridge earthquake engineering and machine learning to develop efficient, data-driven solutions to contemporary seismic challenges. I primarily study reinforced-concrete buildings, while also working on structural reliability. I focus on problems related to small tabular data because the scarcity of large, labeled datasets in earthquake engineering. I generally implement my work in Python/MATLAB depending on cases.

Please see my research highlights and contact with me if you want to collaborate/discuss ideas.
