Roman, isimsiz bir anlat\u0131c\u0131n\u0131n, kendisini \u201cyeralt\u0131 adam\u0131\u201d olarak nitelendiren bir karakterin i\u00e7sel d\u00fcnyas\u0131n\u0131 ortaya koyar. Yeralt\u0131 adam\u0131, insan\u0131n do\u011fas\u0131 gere\u011fi ba\u015fkald\u0131ran ve itaatsiz bir varl\u0131k oldu\u011funu savunur. Ona g\u00f6re, insanlar yaln\u0131zca mant\u0131kl\u0131 ve hesapl\u0131 kararlar vermezler; bazen s\u0131rf \u00f6zg\u00fcr olduklar\u0131n\u0131 kan\u0131tlamak i\u00e7in kendilerine zarar verebilecek irrasyonel eylemlerde de bulunurlar.
