Biography

Feyza Tantekin Erden is a Professor in the Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education, Middle East Technical University, Turkey.

She was born in Ankara, Turkey,  on August 3, 1973.  She attended the Middle East Technical University, the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and received  a Bachelor of Science degree  in Sociology in 1995 and a Master’s degree in 1998.

The same year, she was awarded a full scholarship by the Ministry of National Education to pursue her doctoral study in the US and she attended the Florida State University to complete a doctoral degree in Early Childhood Education. She received her Ph.D. from the Florida State University in 2002. Upon earning her Ph.D., she came back to Turkey. Since then she has been teaching at the Middle East Technical University.

She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in early childhood education. Her research focuses on classroom management, early childhood curriculum, and gender equity in education. She has published articles and book chapters on gender equity, play, classroom management and teacher beliefs and practices. She is married with two children.
