1.  Sayfa viii’in sonunda değinilen video filmi ile ilgili açıklamalar:

• Bölüm 4.4.2.2.(4) uyarınca, silindirsel kama kesme deneyinde (skkd), zemin örneği hazırlanırken deney kalıbı, içerdiği zemin örneği ve varsa,  örneğin altındaki ahşap diski tartma işlemi, tepedeki boşluğa ahşap disk(ler) konmadan yapılmalıdır.
• Prizmatik kama kesme deneyinde (pkkd), çakılın deney kalıbına titreşimli tokmakla sıkıştırılması sırasında kullanıcının kulaklarına pamuk tıkadığı görülmektedir. “Kulakları gürültüye karşı koruma” konusunda kısa bir bilgisunar araştırması; bu yöntemin, kulakları gürültüye karşı korumakta son derece yetersiz olduğunu, yapılması gerekenin, plastik ya da kauçuk kulak tıkaçları ya da ses kaydı yapanların kullandığına benzer, kulak kepçelerini içine alan kulak koruyucuları kullanmak olduğunu gösterir. Çekimi izleyen deneylerde anılan ikinci yöntem uygulanmıştır.

2.  Aşağıdaki yayında, pkkd’de, skkd’de ve üç eksenli basınç deyinde ölçülen dayanımla ilgili kimi konulara açıklık getirilmiştir. Değişik deneylerde, kesme düzlemi ile sıkıştırma yönü arasındaki açı birbirine yakınsa, kama kesme deneyi ile üç eksenli basınç deneyi sonuçları arasındaki farkın, düzlemsel bozunum koşullarında yapılan deneyler ile üç eksenli deneyler arasındaki fark düzeyinde olduğu gösterilmiştir.

1. The following should be noted about the video film referred to at the end of p. viii of the manual.

• In conformity with section 4.4.2.2 (4) of the manual, during the preparation of the cylwest sample for testing, the mould, the enclosed sample, and any discs at the bottom of the mould should be weighed without the wooden discs in the empty space at the top of the sample.
• During compaction of the gravel in the priswest mould using the vibrating hammer, the user of the hammer plugs his ears with cotton wool. A brief Internet search for ‘Protecting ears against noise’ reveals that this is a highly inefficient way of protecting ears from noise. What is recommended is to use plastic or rubber earplugs, or earmuffs, which cover the ears completely. The latter method has been used in subsequent applications of the test.

2. The following publication has given insight to the differences between the results of priswests, cylwests, and triaxial tests. It is concluded that the difference between the results of the wedge shear test and the triaxial test is in conformity with the difference between plane strain and triaxial tests for granular soils so long as the inclination of the failure plane to the bedding plane in the wedge shear test is close to that in the triaxial test. The close agreement between the results of priswests and the triaxial tests is due to the notable difference in this inclination.

3. The following publication concludes that there is no effect on the measured soil strength of the priswest box spacing provided Analysis C is used for the evaluation of test results.
