In this conversation, I discuss my academic journey, the opportunities offered by undergraduate statistics education at METU, experiences in artificial intelligence and natural language processing, and broader questions around interpretability, model safety and future risks.
I took part in the 2026 Global Conference of the International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development as an Early Career Researcher, with participation supported through CODATA and an Early Career Researcher travel grant from the International Science Council.
My contribution to the Data Policy Committee work focused on analysis. I reviewed 146 survey responses quantitatively and qualitatively, including close reading of open-ended answers on crisis data governance, training, common standards and collaboration between researchers and practitioners.
