Going Mobile in Teacher Education” project was awarded with the Marie Curie Career Integration Grant.
Marie Curie Career Integration Grant is given to improve the permanent integration of researchers in Europe. “The action is designed to support researchers in the first steps of their European research career and to attain lasting professional integration in the ERA. By providing researchers with a substantial research budget, the action is intended to improve considerably their prospects for long term integration, thus contributing to the success of their research career”.

Elected to serve as the chair for the AERA Computer and Internet Applications Special Interest Group (SIG)
Elected to serve as the Chair (2-year term begins in 2012) of the Computer and Internet Applications in Education SIG at AERA. I am excited to take this leadership position at AERA and enhance the types of sessions offered by the SIG as well as the educational research in this area.
We got the outstanding paper award at Ed-Media 2011 Lisbon.
This paper is an extended version of one of the articles in my dissertation where we looked at the literature on online teacher roles and competencies, identified some gaps, and proposed strategies for promoting exemplary online teaching practices.

Received the ECT Internship award at the 2010 AECT Convention.
The Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) has selected Evrim Baran to be one of 2009 AECT Cochran Interns. This opportunity is awarded each year to five outstanding Instructional Technology doctoral students enrolled in graduate programs from around the world and is considered to be the highest honor of its kind within the field of Instructional Technology. The internship program seeks to identify students that demonstrate the potential to become future leaders in the field as well as within AECT itself.
