In March, I attended to a panel on STEM education approaches in Turkey at the Educational Technology Summit (ETZ) 2016. The event was well-organized and planned. Seeing such motivated crowd including teachers, academicians and developers from the industry coming together and discussing the transformation of learning environments with technology motivated me to attend these events more frequently. STEM education has become one of the hot topics for educators in Turkey. However, educators are now facing a challenge to conceptualize STEM education in the context of our country’s needs and necessities. Our Center for STEM Education (BILTEMM) at METU aims to implement research and development projects to address these needs.
